Kia Sorento (2021-) Hitch Installation Overview

Towing Capacity: 4000 lbs Tongue Weight: 600 lbs

Time Commitment: Up to 1 Hr

The Kia Sorento uses factory mounting points in the frame, but the installation still requires several vehicle-specific steps to complete cleanly and safely. Depending on the exact model, a plastic underbody cover may need to be removed and reinstalled, and Sorento models equipped with a spare tire may require the spare to be lowered during installation.

The exhaust also has to be carefully lowered so the hitch can be raised into place over the passenger-side exhaust area. Once the hitch is positioned, it is aligned with the factory weld nuts in the frame rails, secured with vehicle-specific hardware, and torqued to specification.

After the hitch is installed, the exhaust, spare tire, and any removed panels are reinstalled. The installer also checks for proper clearance between the hitch and exhaust to help prevent rattles or contact after installation.
